7075-T6 is a high strength alloy originally developed for aircraft and aerospace applications, often referred to as “aircraft grade”. The main alloy ingredients of zinc and copper make 7075 one of the highest strength aluminium alloys available. 7075 in the T6 temper is stronger than most mild steels. 7075 is considered to have good machinability, good corrosion resistance but is not good for welding. Aluminium 7075-T651 has similar characteristics to T6 but goes through an extra process to relieve some of the stresses in the material. Features: - Strength comparable to many steels - Good fatigue strength - Average machinability - Can be highly polished Applications: - Marine, automotive and aviation - Hang glider airframes - Rock climbing equipment - Bicycle components
