Frequently asked questions
What is aluminium 6082 used for?
Aluminium 6082 is widely used for structural and machined components, including frames, bridges, cranes, transport parts, trusses and general engineering applications.
What is the difference between 6082 T6 and T651?
Both are solution heat-treated and artificially aged. T651 is additionally stress relieved by stretching, which helps reduce movement during machining.
Can aluminium 6082 be welded?
Yes. Aluminium 6082 has good weldability, although strength is reduced in the heat-affected weld zone.
