Frequently asked questions
What is stainless steel 304 used for?
Stainless steel 304 is used for food equipment, sinks, tanks, architectural fittings, general fabrication and many components needing good corrosion resistance and formability.
What is the difference between 304 and 304L?
Stainless steel 304L has lower carbon content than 304, reducing the risk of carbide precipitation after welding in heavier sections.
Is stainless steel 304 suitable for marine use?
Grade 304 can be used in many outdoor applications, but grade 316 is normally preferred for marine and chloride-rich environments.
