What is Brass?
Brass is a copper zinc alloy, the zinc content can vary from 10% to about 39%. Low zinc content brasses are used where brazing and enamelling are required such as jewellery. 'Common Brass' contains 36% zinc and is commonly found in sheet form. The highest zinc content of 39% produces free machining brass which usually includes the addition of a controlled amount of lead.
Applications
Brass has found uses in many applications where it is substituted for steel. This reduces cost and machine time. These applications include hydraulic hose connections, garden equipment, plumbing and heating and of course the marine industry.
Brass Products

Aluminium Bronze (AB2 / CuAl10Fe5Ni5)
Aluminium Bronze (AB2) is a high-strength copper alloy containing aluminium, iron, and nickel. It combines excellent corrosion resistance (particularly in seawater) with high mechanical strength and wear resistance. Commonly used for: • Marine fittings and propellers • Bearing bushes and gears • Valve seats and pump components • Heavy-duty fasteners • Heat exchangers Available as round bar in a range of metric and imperial diameters, cut to required length.

Brass Angle CZ130
Brass Angle CZ130 - available in a range of sizes.

Brass Hexagon CZ121
Brass Hexagon CZ121 - available in a range of sizes.

Brass High Tensile CZ114
High tensile brass, suitable for heavy duty applications.

Brass Naval Rolled CZ112
Naval brass with good corrosion resistance in seawater environments.

Brass Riveting Quality CZ131
Riveting quality brass, highly ductile.

Brass Round Bar CZ121
Brass is a copper-zinc alloy where zinc content varies from 10% to about 39%. High zinc content (39%) produces free-machining brass, typically with lead additions. CZ121 is the most common free-machining grade, often containing lead for improved machinability. It is a cost-effective alternative to steel and has excellent corrosion resistance. Free machining brass rod, the standard grade for high speed machining.

Brass Sheet CZ108
Common brass sheet grade, used for general fabrication and cold forming.
