Frequently asked questions
What is aluminium 7075 used for?
Aluminium 7075 is used for aircraft structures, defence components, motorsport parts, gears, shafts and other highly stressed applications where low weight matters.
Is aluminium 7075 stronger than 6082?
Yes. Aluminium 7075 provides substantially higher strength than 6082, while 6082 generally offers better weldability and corrosion resistance for structural fabrication.
Can aluminium 7075 be welded?
Aluminium 7075 is generally not recommended for welding because the process can reduce strength and increase cracking risk. It is commonly machined and mechanically fastened instead.
